In 2014, four super-stoked kitesurfers from Bonaire organized the first Kitemanera. Every day after work you’d find them on the beach, kiting like crazy and chilling on the beach with friends long after the sun set. Since they were all Venezuelan, they soon earned the nickname the Venezuelan Kite Mafia (VKM). Their collective love for kitesurfing gave them an idea – gather local and international kitesurfers together with family and friends into one crazy and unforgettable, kite-filled weekend. They adapted the Spanish word ‘caimanera’ – which means playing sports with friends where fun comes first and rules come second – into the idea for Kitemanera. And the rest was history!
